Choose the best Apple iPad that fits you

Friday in the United States Apple announced their newest addition of the iPad models, the Apple iPad 3G .

Beside the plastic strip on the top sit – for 3G reception – and the entrance for the sim-card, the new iPad looks the same as the previous model we know. Or not?

The new iPad weighs a little more and you can from now everywhere connect with internet (ofcourse where is 3G available)

Well this feature costs you plusminus 130 Euros extra by purchase of the device. The rumours of prices of the 3G version (available in 16, 32 and 64 GB models) in Europe start around 500 Euros .  The topmodel with 3G is rumoured at 799 Euros in Europe, if we believe may the rumors. Next week monday Apple will announce the final prices and availabililty in all countries .  

Early testers in the United States pointed out that you not only will pay extra the feature but also need to pay the subscriptions expense of the data bundle . 

From tests with the AT&T network it appeared that the iPad with 3G approximately performed the same with comparison of the iPhone 3GS . The quality of reception was the same . It is ofcourse not as fast as the average Wifi-connection, but it is quickly enough to surf and use e-mail and use the majority of the available online apps .  

The fast 1Ghz processor takes care of faster page loading that an iPhone . It’s not only on paper faster, it feels in reallife faster . We experienced no problems when the iPad automatically switched between 3G operation and WiFi operating mode . On top of your display you can see a nice icon which indicated if you are using WiFi or 3G .

Apple-fans do not think much about the question to buy this new version or not . You have also other solutions available which let you use the regular WiFi iPad with almost the same feature set than the iPad 3G model . A MiFi router can be the solution you are looking for . Via this kind of software you can convert a device with GSM/3G/UMTS-signals into a WiFi-signal .  (Mifi-software is available for Windows Mobile Smartphones or jailbroken iPhones  or Symbian S60 phones).  

If you use this MiFi connection your Apple iPad is connected via de WiFi connection and believes it’s actually a WiFi connection . This gives you a big advantage.You can download large podcast, application which demand a WiFi connection. A good example is Skype .

Reviewers report low quality of video when connected via 3G . While this was not an issue on the iPhone because it has a little screen, on iPads big screen you will see the videos look bad because the lack of decent resolution .  

If GPS is important for you, the iPad 3G is the solution for you . This new GPS-chip of the 3G works better than we know of the iPhone 3GS .

Is the price a problem for you, but you want really the same functionality and you are prepare to do some concessions? Installing the MiFi router solution will alow you to choose for the regular  iPad.
